Willie joined us at the beginning of November.  We were looking for another Golden to rescue after our dear dog passed away in July.  All of our dogs have been adopted or rescued, and Willy is our 4th Golden.

We were his third home since he arrived, and he is still learning to trust us, but we have all come so far!  He is now comfortable with belly rubs and showers– lots and lots of showers (because we play in the mud so much).  His favorite game is fetch, played with 2 balls, because he still finds it hard to give someone his only toy.  He absolutely loves hunting for balls in the woods.

Our family and friends have been so impressed with this charming boy, and can’t believe he came from a challenging background.  We think he must have been a house pet at some point, because he is so good in the house.

We are very grateful to Golden Bond and his amazing foster parents–they have done a beautiful job with this boy!

Hello!  My name is Willie (#3198).  I arrived from China on May 8.  I like to think that I am in the prime of my life.  I am past all that silly puppy behavior.  I am 100% house-trained, do great left loose in the house, and am comfortable being crated.  I walk great on and off leash and am comfortable around people and dogs.  I LOVE going for walks, hikes, going for a swim, playing fetch, playing with young dogs, and hanging out with my person.  My foster mom has even taken me to something that she calls “happy hour.”  All I know is it was a fun plac

e where I received lot’s of pets and love from people I didn’t know.

I will do best in a home without young kids or young non-dog savvy cats, as I am still learning how to share my toys and will need ongoing training and management with this.  I’ll always let you know when I’m struggling and need some positive guidance.  Because of my resource guarding, it also would be best if I were in a home with dogs who don’t mind sharing.  I do love antler and bone toys but I shouldn’t be given plush toys.  Those I love too much to want to give up!  I have been staying with a trainer working on learning to share, and will do best in a dog-experienced home willing to keep up my training and take it slow as I build trust.  I do best with positive method training, and my foster mom says I’ve made tons of improvement!

My foster mom wants me to tell you that, “Willie is everything you’d want in a Golden Retriever, his sweet face and even sweeter demeanor are worth it!”

Willie truly is the epitome of a Golden Retriever.  He will be an amazing addition to a family who is willing to be patient, work with him and show him the love and trust that he deserves.

Willie was adopted on November 3, 2019
