Hello! I’m Bella (#4066). I’m a tall, athletic 16-month old Golden Retriever mix (perhaps doodle x doodle). I’m a very svelte 66 pounds. My foster mom says I’d do well as an only dog or with a well-behaved, non-alpha dog. I’m good with older kids (13 and older), but I probably should have no cats in the house. If there is one, I don’t think I could stop barking at it.

I really need a person or family committed to all aspects of my training, including house manners, and following directions (i.e., sit, stay, and walking on a loose leash). I am a
fun pup and an obedient companion when I remember to focus my attention on my person and not get distracted. I do like training, though – especially getting treats when
I do what I’m asked.

I love to hike, especially sniffing the smells and looking at the scenery. I’ve been in the woods, along a river, at historical homesteads and enjoyed them all.

My foster mom is really impressed with how well I travel. I’m quiet and calm when riding safely in a crate in the car. I am very good at sleeping in my crate and always respect others’ sleep. I stay quiet until everyone gets up.

One thing you need to know about me: I will love my people. I prefer to go with you rather than stay home; to snuggle with you watching TV and reading; and to lie at your feet when you are on the computer.

Notes: After she’s more trained, Bella would be fun to take to kids’ sports events. She’d enjoy visiting all of the people. Bella loves to use her nose to figure things out – scent work classes would be right up her alley! She would be happy as an only dog, or in a family with another dog that is not an alpha. Bella is large and tends to play rough, which may not be to the liking of older and/or alpha dogs.
