Vanessa #3967
My name is Vanessa (#3967). I am a female Labrador Retriever-mix brought into Golden Bond Rescue from South Korea. I am fourteen months old and weigh about thirty-four pounds. I am full of energy and love to be the center of attention. I’m up for any activity – walking, playing ball, hide and seek, tug-of-war, chasing birds in the yard and treat games. I love being outdoors and will sit on the deck or lay in the yard watching wildlife, birds and trees for as long as you will let me. Since I am still a puppy, I need to be active enough each day to burn off my extra energy. I am super smart and learn quickly.
I have had some big changes in the past year. When I first came to my foster family, I was shy around new people, not potty-trained and did NOT like car rides but I’m past all of that now. I have been crate-trained but now that I am house-broken, I only use the crate when my foster family is away from the house for a while. I will need continued help with basic training and leash walking.
I have not been observed with children but, because I am a larger-breed puppy, I can get rambunctious at times and would do best with children over ten years old. I’m not sure how I would react with cats.
My ideal family would love to walk me, have a yard large enough for me to run in and would have another dog who likes to play, since I love to be around other dogs! I am very protective of my foster parents and our house. We’re working on that but for now, it’s best that I meet new people in a neutral place. This will improve even more as I settle into my permanent home and routine.
I recently had orthopedic surgery (hips). The veterinary surgeon said that he expects me to have a full recovery and that this should not impact my future activities.
I have ears that stand up but are floppy too. I’m told I also have the cutest underbite – it looks like I am always grinning. I still have some fun puppy time ahead and when that is done, I will make a great lifelong companion!
