Georgia #4084
Meet Georgia, a beautiful 54-pound black lab who just turned 4. Surrendered by a family who loved her but felt they couldn’t give her what she needed; Georgia is looking for a new place to hang her leash. Georgia needs owners that are prepared to meet her exercise needs. One or two 30-minute walks aren’t going to cut it for this girl, and she will sit by the door to let you know she’s ready for more action. She has been in foster care for two weeks and we’re finding that two hour-long walks a day and some stick fetching in the local river just about wear her out. Georgia would make an excellent hiking or running partner. I’m quite certain she’d be excellent at scent work and if given the chance, I’m sure she’d love dock diving. Georgia likes to stay busy. And she’d be a great gardening partner as long as you take time to play ball. And once she’s had her exercise and it’s time to go inside, she is happy to lie contentedly by your feet when you need to get work done.
Sweet Georgia has excellent house manners. She has been allowed on certain furniture but not on the beds, and she respects that. She’s never had an accident and lets you know when she needs to do her business. She knows several commands and will wait to be released from a sit before eating her meals. Impressive considering she is always hungry. Georgia is somewhat interested in soft toys and chew toys, but her favorite is any kind of ball. Georgian pretty much ignores other dogs that she sees, including the two older resident labs she is living with. They get along fine though. She just doesn’t seek them out for play or cuddling. She’s a people dog.
While she has taken to a gentle leader without much complaining (she was a crazy puller when she got here), but she still manages to pull quite a bit. Indeed, Georgia’s leash manners are where she needs the most work, and her new family will need to continue to work on that. Once she masters a loose leash, she’ll be a pleasure to walk, and some family will be lucky to adopt her.
