I’m Cole (although I don’t really know that name yet (#4200)).  I’m a male black Labrador Retriever approximately 4-years old.  I was picked up off the streets in South Korea and treated for heartworm.  I arrived in the U.S. in late January very skinny and uncertain about what was going on.  I have filled out nicely and become quite a handsome dog according to what I’ve been told. I am approaching 70 pounds, which is the weight the vet thinks is good for me.  Living in a house now suits me well.  I’m also good at riding in a car and am okay being in a crate at home as well.  My foster mom enjoys seeing me as a happy dog now.

I am my foster mom’s shadow and very affectionate, but still a little shy around others who I don’t know well yet. My foster mom has taught me TOUCH so that I can start to feel more comfortable with them.  Treats help a lot. I am not shy around little kids, but can be a little overwhelming to them, especially when they are running around.

Housetraining/potty-training is coming along well.  I had several accidents initially but none for a while.  No problems ever occurred overnight.  I do get let out fairly often during the day.

I love balls but need sturdy toys or I will rip them up.  We’ve only done a little basic training, so I am a work in progress.  It was recommended that I needed more time to adjust to this new world, so we’ve only been on a few short walks. I pull a lot right now.  I sometimes run in the back yard looking for squirrels and birds to chase.  Cats are probably not a good option for me currently.

As far as other dogs go, I have met several through a wire gate that I can stick my nose through and have acted appropriately.  I have a play date coming up with a neighborhood Golden.

I have a rascally side, liking to pick up shoes and socks on occasion and maybe hoping for a game of chase (which never happens).  So far, I have not chewed or destroyed anything inappropriate.

TV is new to me, and I can get over excited when there’s lots of action, especially involving animals, and loud noises.  My foster mom is working on desensitizing me, but I’ve been taken out of the room a few times.

I have a very calm side too and will very often hang out resting or sleeping on a dog bed next to my foster mom.

I am looking for my forever home in a loving and patient environment and will be a wonderful, affectionate, happy companion.
