Grace #4131
Hi, I’m Grace (#4131) and I can tell you, I’m very glad to have been rescued by Golden Bond Rescue and placed in a loving home to rest and recuperate from my 4-month “adventure” in the southern Oregon desert! I’ve been told I’m a miracle survivor, especially since I’m now just barely a year old (best guess from the vet anyway and I’m not telling). But honestly, I’m just glad to know that my needs will now be taken care of by loving people who want to keep me healthy and safe.
People say I’m probably part Golden Retriever and part Great Pyrenees, but my foster mom says I’m pure love. I’m long, tall and lean but looking and feeling much better now at a fit 73 lbs rather than the malnourished, skinny 61 lbs when I first arrived into GBR. I thoroughly enjoy 2 good meals a day plus some treats, which I take very gently. I also like to chew on bones and chewies and lately have even discovered that other dog toys are fun!
I’d be happy anywhere that I know I’ll be fed regularly and loved, but I would really like to have the company of a buddy dog who likes to play occasionally. I’m pretty mellow and laid back but can get some big puppy zoomies and really tear around sometimes when the mood hits. My foster brother and I like to wrestle and play in the house, too, but I also spend quite a bit of time sleeping during the day (I’m a really good sleeper at night, too). Just please don’t make me stay in a crate – I really don’t like being confined, and my manners in the house are pretty perfect so I’m fine being left loose in the house. I don’t get on furniture and I don’t jump on people. I would suggest you don’t leave food lying around where I can reach it – those scavenger skills are still with me!
I like to go for walks, but I often have to stop and sniff (and sniff) and sometimes just stand and look at things. I’m pretty good on leash considering I’ve not had much training. But I have to tell you – I REALLY like water (like a river or lake)! We went to walk along the river and I couldn’t wait to just lie down in the water and feel the current rushing by – ahhh! Then I got the zoomies and ran thru the water. My foster mom thinks I’d probably like to swim but her leash wasn’t long enough to give me that opportunity.
I love all people and kids and like other dogs, but I keep my distance if a new dog is too pushy or in my face. Just give me time to get acquainted. I think I’ll also be fine with cats. I’m pretty much a gentle soul and want to find a forever home where I can settle in as part of the family.
