I am a 4 ½-year old male golden retriever named Tucker (#4204). I currently weigh in at a healthy 70 pounds and have a beautiful, healthy shiny red coat. My first family thought I might have allergies but, since a Cytopoint shot a month ago and living in the house with my foster family, I have not been itching at all and my ears are clear. Maybe it was something in the environment or my food but I’m feeling just fine for now.

I struggle with anxiety and get a little agitated when things make me un-comfortable or nervous. I may jump up in my nervousness or run around a little crazy until my humans can calm me down and let me know it’s okay. I love being with my people! I love to lay on their feet, lay next to them by their chairs, and be with them at all times. I begrudgingly can chill if they need to be gone for a few hours, but I don’t really like it. I’d rather be with them.

Because of my anxiety, when I am bored or restless, I start licking the tops of my paws. My foster mom covers them and keeps me in the dreaded cone to try and break me of this habit. Golden Bond Rescue is trying to help reduce my anxiety so that I don’t feel I need to lick. I think once I am settled with my people, given some redirection and the spots are covered, I can eventually stop this habit.

I am a sweet, sweet boy with a gentle mouth when taking the delicious treats my foster mom gives out. I also like the chewy toys she gives me when they have to leave for a few hours. I’d rather go with her but the chewies keep me busy for a while. I don’t like crates – they make me way too nervous but I can be left free to roam or contained in part of the house since I don’t chew things up or get into mischief. I am fully house-trained.

I love to chase, to play tug of war with towels or ropes, and carry around toys. I can whip my towels around like crazy and like when my people grab the other end! Sometimes, I lay on my back to play with my toys, pretending to be ferocious! I love when people pretend to grab my towel or to steal my toys. I like playing fetch inside with plastic balls and will chase balls outside, though I don’t always bring the balls back when outside. With other dogs, I love to be chased! I love to watch and help with chores like weeding and digging. I’m so helpful!

I lived on 60 acres at my first family and have 2.5 acres at my foster home. I don’t really NEED all that room, but I may need a little practice/training for leash walking – I like to pull my person along. A harness may help. I would prefer my people to be home a lot if possible. I can live with them being gone for a little while but really want them home with me. I’d love to go on adventures and be active with my family if possible.
