Hi Friends!

My name is Maeve (#4202). I’m a beautiful, 5 year old “Golden Girl” looking for just the right person or family to enjoy the rest of my doggy days with. Weighing in at 68 lbs, I’m sleek and playfully active, but equally good at getting several hours of “beauty rest” throughout the day. Pretty flexible based on what my human friends are doing and happiest just being close them. I’ll play tug-o-war whenever you have the time, chew on a favorite treat/toy, or nap near your feet. Not to be too much of a bragger, but here’s a bunch of other good stuff you should know about me:

I’m very smart. Already had learned several basic commands, both verbal and hand signals (sit, down, wait, roll over, etc) as a younger pup. Ready to learn anything else you’d like to teach me Super sweet by nature, I’m willing to give love and care anytime you need it and happily soak up all the love in return. Frequently will snuggle up close to your legs, offer you a paw, look at you with big “puppy dog” eyes, waiting longingly for the pets (ear and belly rubs being favorites!)

My foster family says I’m very well mannered in the house. No “accidents” and always go to the door with a little whimper to let you know it’s potty time. Can be left alone either crated or free-run as I’m ok with either and not destructive (excluding the dog toys with squeakers in them).

I love riding in the car, just tethered safely in the backseat, napping away the time, with a potty break if needed until we arrive Will happily go on any adventure you want to take me on, especially if it involves great sniffing walks or playing in water.

I enjoy my walks and am pretty good on leash. Being a pretty typical Golden, love everyone so much that I want to greet them all! Sometimes I can get a bit overly friendly with body leaping, so the friend on the other end of the leash needs to remind me to sit and be calm. Seeing other dogs excites me in a happy way (tail wagging), though sometimes I just want to “talk” a bit at them too. No malicious intent, but could be misunderstood by potential pup friends, so foster mom has been working with me to relax, sniff and meet nicely. A work in progress but I’m getting there she says.

Speaking of dog friends, I’ve done great with the resident dogs living here the past several weeks. Play wrestling with the younger lab, napping with the older Golden. Have met one cat that came to visit for a couple weeks and was just more curious about her than anything. Think I’d be fine living with one of these, especially a “dog savvy” variety. Happy to live in harmony either with or without other furry friends.

A note from foster mom:

Now you’ve heard Maeve’s best qualities I can only add to that how much we’ve enjoyed having this precious girl these past several weeks. She adjusted to our pack right away, very quickly warming her way into our hearts There is one challenge, however, she’s had to face that her future person or family will need to understand. For many years Maeve has suffered from severe allergies, mostly leading to problems with ear infections. It got so bad that she had to have what’s called a TECA (Total Ear Canal Ablation) in her right ear, causing deafness in that one. We’ve been working with a vet Dermatologist to treat her allergies, trying to prevent the same happening with her left ear. So far with daily medications, special diet and a less invasive ear canal cleaning, it has become more manageable. There could be flare-ups as her allergies seem to be somewhat “seasonal”, so with this she’ll need monitored for further treatment. We feel her personality far outweighs this challenge though and Miss Maeve will be a loving, devoted companion for some lucky adopter. Could that be you?
