Oh, he wants us to mention that he likes to watch Disney TV, and he is not a fan of the dark so appreciates having a nightlight. Maybe you’re a good fit for this fun and quirky boy?
Stay tuned for more updates on Jake.
February 2, 2025: Jake really enjoyed the recent snow and loves to try and catch snowflakes. Silly Jake!

January 16, 2025: Jake’s fosters are continuing to work on his manners. When he came to them, he was mouthy/nippy when excited and happy to see someone. With the help of one session with a trainer, Jake is no longer doing that. He’s a smart boy! Instead, he has learned to respond to the command “touch” whereby he touches his nose to the person’s outstretched hand. At first a treat was used, but now he does it consistently without a treat. He still gets excited and jumps up, but he isn’t jumping on. Rather he hops on his hind legs like a pogo stick. Jake is also making good progress with his loose leash walking.
December 26, 2024: Jake has been enjoying having the college aged kids home for the holidays and they have been working on commands and on getting him to drop balls when he brings it back to keep the fetch game going.
December 15, 2024: Jake ended up in a shelter (who reached out to Golden Bond) when his owner’s health precluded taking care of him anymore. Once evaluated by GBR, Jake went immediately into a foster to adopt home, but while they cared for him, it ended up not being the right fit owing to his being a young energetic boy, so Jake will be looking for his furever home again soon. In the meantime, Jake has landed in a wonderful foster home and is having a great time. He loves to run around in the large fenced yard, and while he has always enjoyed chasing after balls, his fosters and their resident dogs are teaching Jake to bring the ball back. Now they’re working on getting him to drop it. They’re also working on teaching Jake not to play nip. Apparently, Jake did not learn this as a puppy, but he’s figuring it out now. He wants to please. His fosters say that Jake is learning a variety of commands quickly, and is especially motivated by small treat rewards.
Jake’s fosters report that Jake is curious about the resident cats but is not chasing them. Jake also had good house manners; he’s not destructive and he’s completely housetrained. Good boy Jake! Jake loves the outdoors and is strong and curious (he has quite the sniffer) but is doing pretty well on leash.
