Hi!  My name is Gunner (#4109). I am a very sweet and enthusiastic 7-year old yellow Labrador Retriever. People are surprised that I am 7. Apparently, I look (and sometimes act) a little young for my age. I am really enjoying getting to eat a lot these days! When I arrived at Golden Bond, I was super skinny, but I’m slowly gaining weight and filling out. I’ll probably top out around 60-65 pounds. All in all, I am quite a catch! People are constantly commenting on what a good looking dog I am. I’m a fully papered Labrador Retriever and am excited to get the chance to have a loving family after my years of service as a stud/breeder. It’s time to chill out, have fun and get some love.

My foster mom says that I am incredibly sweet. Although I get pretty fired up first thing in the morning or when she lets me out of the crate after she’s been out for a few hours, I mellow out with her when she’s working on her computer or hanging out with friends. I’m also easygoing when other people come into the house. I recently began going on leash walks – it’s something I never got to do when I was living in a dog run.

Despite my relatively modest size for a Lab, I am super strong, so my new harness helps my foster mom to rein me in a bit, but as I’ve gotten out and about for a week or so, I’ve gotten so I’m a bit of a spaz so definitely going to need a forever home with folks who are good at leash training. It’s just so darned fun to smell all these wonderful smells after living on concrete most of my life!

I also get very excited to see other dogs and people. My tail is always wagging like crazy, and I love checking out all the dogs on the sidewalk. I’ve been told I can come on a little strong, but I figure with some training, I’ll do less pulling and barking from excitement.

I’ve been sleeping peacefully through the night in my kennel near my foster mom. I keep a good eye on her in the morning, and as soon as she’s up, I start thwapping my tail with excitement. I’m really hoping that my forever home has a fenced yard so I can go out first thing in the morning. My foster mom is surprised at what a “Velcro Dog” I’ve become in just a couple weeks of staying with her. I’d love to live with a family who is around more often than not and can get me a lot of exercise. I get a bit bummed out when my foster mom leaves me in the crate for a few hours during the day and can get a bit barky while she’s away, according to the neighbors.
