My name is Ernie (#4145).  I am a 2-year old Golden Retriever.  I am told I’m a gorgeous boy.  I am also told that when I lay my head on someone’s lap all their tension melts away; I like hearing that because I want the people in my life to love me as much as I love them.

I am a sweet boy that would be happy with a retired couple, a family with older children, or a family with other dogs. I know some commands, including sit, stay, come, down and off.  I am currently working on leave it.  I will need training for walking on a leash since I still pull and am always looking for squirrels or cats to chase.

For a 2-year old, I am pretty mellow though I do get excited and jump on people sometimes.  I am food-oriented and I will counter-surf if there’s something within reach that smells yummy.  I love to go for walks; I currently get two long walks a day.  I like to go to the river too, but I am not interested in getting into the water.  I do enjoy a good bath though.
