My name is Dakota (#4129).  I am an 8-year old Golden Retriever with a heart as golden as my fur. Known for my happy-go-lucky demeanor, I bring joy to everyone I meet… and I go out of my way to meet everyone. Whether it’s a sunny day at the park or a rainy afternoon at home, my curly tail is always wagging, and my infectious smile never fades. I am tall and have a regal look, but my personality is that of your best friend of twenty years. I am the kind of dog who always greets you at the door with boundless excitement, even making getting the mail feels special.

My love for attention is matched only by my loyalty to my family. I enjoy spending time with my human companions, whether it’s going on short or medium walks, playing catch, or simply lounging around the house. My gentle, patient nature makes me especially great with kids, who adore my playful spirit and cuddly warmth. On walks, I can pull like a younger dog at first, but after a block or two I slow down. I am good on a leash, but can sometimes become talkative when another big dog crosses my path. Small dogs are just fine in my book.

I never miss a chance to go outside with a human. I believe adventure is always afoot. I also love car rides, sticking my head out the window to feel the wind in my face. Despite my eager-to-participate personality, I have advanced arthritis in my rear legs and getting up from laying down can take a bit more oomph than most dogs. Because of this, I know how to relax and am often found curled up in my favorite spot, basking in the love and comfort of my big blue bed.

With my loving heart, curious personality, and wisdom-grey face, I bring warmth into the lives of my people. Though not a highly active dog, I would be the perfect candidate for a young family or work-from-home human.
