My name is Yoshi (#3607) and I am a cuddle bug who loves lounging with my humans as much as I love to play fetch and frisbee. If you’re not actively petting me, I will use my highly dexterous paw and my head to suggest that you do, but when you’ve had enough, I respond quickly to a gentle “no” and redirect my focus to quiet time. Work from home? I will calmly mind my own business while you handle yours.

Outside, I enjoy chasing squirrels and sniffing around, but REALLY love to retrieve my ball. Sometimes, I am reluctant to “drop it” after I bring it back to you (I love a good game of tug-of-war), but I’ve learned to respond accordingly when you hold out two cupped hands or tap the ground. I’m quite good on a leashed walk; I may pull at first, but I generally ignore other leashed/fenced dogs. I perk up at wandering cats but am not inclinded to chase them (at least not while I know I’m on a leash).

I do tend to resource guard when around other dogs and react to their anxiety. I can startle easily, so I’d be happiest in a home with no other pets or kids, so I get exclusive access to the love of his life—YOU. I bark when people come to the door, but I love all humans after a quick sniff test.

I am incredibly well-behaved in the house; I can be left free roaming when you’re gone and not get into any trouble. I wait for invitations to get up on furniture, and if not allowed, I respect boundaries. I sleep quietly all night, waiting for you to get up in the morning before I happily greet you. My foster says I am, “Such a sweet angel boy!” They also say I am “truly a gem”…and I’m hoping you will find my cute face and freckled ears hard to resist.
