Update as of December 9:

Ruger, 11 mo old lab/retriever, is a well-mannered, smart, loveable dog. He is house trained,
walks great on a leash, follows simple commands, and actually gives you back the ball when
playing fetch. He’s also a great car passenger. Ruger is very loving, mild mannered and a bit
shy with new people. His exposure to other dogs has been limited to our daily walks. The few
dogs we have encountered thus far have been smaller than Ruger and he behaved
appropriately.
Ruger is very cautious around new people but eventually warms up. He is definitely more
comfortable with woman and children. It takes him a bit longer to trust men. I believe with
time, patience and love this will be a non-issue. Ruger has definitely shown more confidence
and is less cautious with new people during his short time with me.
Overall Ruger has been a pleasure to live. Whoever is lucky enough to become his new family
will be happy they welcomed him in their home.

Ruger (#4354) is a handsome 11-month old 60 pound Goldador (mom was a Golden Retriever and Dad was a chocolate Lab).  Ruger ended up in the shelter when he and another intact male started to get into scuffles.  Ruger has since been neutered and is now settling into his foster home.

Update as of November 10: Ruger is a well-mannered, smart, loveable dog.  He is housetrained, walks great on a leash, follows simple commands, and actually gives back the ball when playing fetch.  Ruger is very loving, mild mannered and a bit shy with new people.  He does not seem to be interested in other dogs; however, the only dogs encountered thus far are barking from their yards.  Ruger simply looks their way and continues walking. Cannot say how he is with children but he would probably be fine if introduced slowly to them. Overall, whoever adopts him will be very lucky.

Update as of December 1:

Ruger, now 11 months old, continues to be an easy foster. In fact, his foster said he is “the perfect dog; he’s got all the qualities one would look for in a dog and then some!  He’s mild mannered, obedient, doesn’t shed much, is very loving, is a pleasure to walk and doesn’t get on the furniture.”  He’s met and loves children, and has also done well with the dogs he has met (coincidentally all smaller dogs so far).  An interesting fact about Ruger is that he is not a barker.  He’s barked all of three times since being in foster care – and that’s when someone has knocked on the front door.  Ruger is more of a ladies’ man; it takes him longer to warm up to men than women.
