Roxy #4373
I am told I have a lot of energy for my age so am looking for lots of fun and activities. I love playing with a frisbee and fetching a ball. Sometimes I am reluctant to “drop it” after I bring it back to you, but that’s because I’m hoping it will turn into a fun game of chase or tug-of-war.
Although I am full of life, I can cuddle like the best of them. The best snuggles and pets come when I am practically sitting in my human’s lap and/or resting my head on their leg (this is my favorite spot at the end of the day). I like to be close to my human but am content to lounge nearby, snooze in a sunny spot and respect boundaries like “dogs out of the kitchen” during meal prep.
I know verbal commands like sit, gentle, back, lay-down and will retreat to my bed when asked. I sometimes can do “shake” but not consistently. When my meals are served I wait to be told it’s “okay” before I start to eat.
I love my walks around the neighborhood. I get so happy when my leash and harness come out. Since I am a Covid baby and didn’t get many opportunities to socialize, I am very reactive when meeting other dogs – barking and lunging in a threatening manner. But I am actively working on this (those treats are so distracting I sometimes forget about the other dogs walking by). I also perk up when I see birds, squirrels and/or cats while on my leash so you need a tight grip.
I tend to be a talker (alert barking). I like to bark when people come to the door but I love humans of all ages after a quick sniff test. The more humans the more attention and playmates there are.
I am well behaved in the house. I can be left free roaming when you’re gone and not get into any trouble, unless you leave the garbage can out then all bets are off. I sleep quietly all night at the foot of your bed and greet you happily in the morning (sometimes I will even give you kisses in bed to wake you up).
I am also working to drop a couple of pounds. (You know those few pounds gained over the holidays or when you’re stressed?? My foster mom has introduced several yummy fruits and vegetables along with my kibbles. I really, really like food but my favorites are sweet potatoes, carrots, apples and green beans.
