Molly #4316
Bad News First: I was born with a birth defect of my hips, and my original owners gave me to GBR because they knew GBR would be able to help me. I had hip replacement surgery on my right hip, and I’ve done well with it. I am now working on getting some strength and building muscle in my hips and legs. I can run big time and walk just fine…but I need to build up my muscles more now that I am able to move better. I need a family who is up for taking me for walks a couple times a day. Oh, and by the way, I walk nicely on the leash.
Stuff to know about me: I like to pick up rocks and carry them around. (My foster home has lots and lots of rocks around it.) I’m pretty strong as I’ve also been known to carry around bricks and other heavy things. When I first came to my foster home, I was only 6-months old and a typical puppy. I was digging in the yard but never in the lawn, just in the bark mulch and flowerbeds. Now, since I’m so much older, I don’t do that anymore. I really like to chew on plastic things and chewing up cardboard pieces. I really love stuffie toys and I don’t usually chew on them, but sometimes it happens. Mostly I love just sleeping with them and carrying them around. I love balls and like to chase them, chew bones, and anything I can chew on. I don’t counter crawl, and I know how to sit, stay, and come (most of the time). What can I say…I’m still sort of a puppy.
Notes from Molly’s foster mom: So, Molly really is such a great dog. She needs somebody who is willing to walk her at least two or three times a day to help build up her muscles. Plus, walking and possibly being able to play with another dog or kids will keep her active and worn out. If you adopt Molly, you will be getting a great dog, but know that she needs plenty of exercise to be her best self so she will require a time commitment from you.
Note from GBR: Molly came to us at 5-months old as an owner surrender due to a birth defect/deformity in her hips. Because of her age, we had to wait to do any type of surgery. Once she was able, she had a total hip replacement on her right side. She has been recovering well and now needs to build more muscle and get used to using her new hip. We don’t know exactly what Molly’s future needs will be at this time, but please don’t let that hold you back if you are interested in this little girl. Please reach out to your Adoption Manager if you’re interested in learning more about her.
