My name is Millie (#4389).  I am a 3-year old chocolate Labrador Retriever looking for a new place to hang my leash.  I need a new home because of a change in my family situation that has resulted in me being with two other dogs, a cat and two kids, with one parent who now travels a lot for work.  My former family loves me dearly, but feels like I deserve a home where I’ll get more attention.

I am house-trained, good free-roaming indoors, and in great health.  I have a shiny coat and am a healthy weight at about 70 pounds.  I’m told I am “the quintessential Lab.”  I love walks, fetch sessions, being in the water, and receiving attention from my people. Where I still need some work is with loose leash walking, but I am doing quite well with a gentle leader.  At times, I still need to be reminded not to jump up in excitement when greeting people.   I am a happy dog!

I got along well with the other two dogs in my former though I don’t like to be bothered when I  eat, and I’d prefer not to share my toys; therefore, I would likely thrive as an only dog.  I would also be fine with another dog who respects that I’m a bit alpha dog. While I am currently living with a cat, I will still need careful introductions to any new cats. If a cat were to run, I’d likely need to chase it.

There are a variety of family setups that would work for me but the most important thing is that I hang my leash in a home where I’ll get plenty of attention.  I like to think some lucky family will be blessed with a lovely dog when they make me a part of their world.
