My name is Finn (#4427).  I am a 4- to 5-year old black Labrador Retriever.  I am told it’s quite possible I am the most loving dog you’ll ever meet. At 75 pounds, I am a self-proclaimed “lap dog” whose favorite place is half-on top of you while you binge your favorite shows.

I was found as a stray by a Good Samaritan and likely spent much of my life outdoors—but you’d never know it. I am an absolute gentleman in the home. I am fully house-trained, have never had an accident, don’t chew or destroy anything, and patiently wait for my people to return. When you walk through the door, expect the happiest full-body tail wags you’ve ever seen. I may give a bark when a package arrives—but really, I’m just letting you know your delivery is here!

I have a low-to-moderate energy level and am currently enjoying two 30- to 40-minute walks each day. (Of course, I would love longer, more frequent walks!) I get so excited when my leash comes out—think adorable spins and tippy-tappy feet all the way to the door. I sit patiently for my harness and am ready to go! For a dog who did not have much leash experience, I am doing wonderfully. I can pull a bit, but with consistency, I’m sure to become an excellent walking companion.

In my foster home, I live with a 4-year old Golden Retriever and we get along well. I’m not much of a player and don’t seem to know what to do with toys just yet—I’m much more interested in people. I’d do best with a calm, low-energy dog companion or would be perfectly happy as your one-and-only, soaking up all the love.

I also live with a 9-year old cat. While the cat prefers her space, I have shown nothing but gentle curiosity—even when hissed at by the cat. I have done well meeting kids and new people and absolutely love anyone willing to give me pets. My fosters are working with me on “sit” and “wait” to help manage my excitement when greeting people, and I’m already making great progress.

My ideal home would be a calm environment where someone is home most of the day or not gone for long stretches. I would do great with kids (the more people to snuggle, the better!) and need a family committed to daily walks and continuing my basic training.

M y foster family says I have been an “absolute dream to foster.”  Despite my unknown past, I have the biggest heart and so much love to give. All I want is to be close to my people and share my affection. My foster family says, “The family lucky enough to adopt Finn truly is getting something special.”  I hope you’ll agree.
