My name is Yates (#3251). I was 89 pounds at my last vet visit but the vet said I should be about 75 pounds. In my foster home, I get along with the resident senior dog and cat just fine. I mostly ignore them, but occasionally like to play a little chase or tug-a-war. I’m a very big, strong boy who cannot control my excitement when new people come to the house or want to pet me on walks, so because of this I’m probably not great around small children. I think that standing up and putting my paws on guests is an acceptable greeting; I’m working on this and I’ve gotten better, but still need improvement.
Overall, I’m a very silly boy. I love to bring your things (not my toys) to you in the morning or when you get home from being away – shoes, clothes, socks, anything I can find within reach. I think I would spend most of his time in the backyard if my fosters let me, so I would love a large yard in my forever home. I also love to stand outside and stare at my fosters through the door, squatting down into play pose to try to bait them to play ball. I love balls! I also love that game of fetch where I bring the ball halfway back to you. Sometimes I find a ball on a walk in the park and refuse to leave it behind, only to eventually drop it somewhere else on the walk.
I walk and run well on a harness but I prefer shorter runs (less than 3 miles) and slow down quite a bit when going uphill. I can be calm at times, but I definitely have my crazy moments – my fosters can usually initiate zoomies in the backyard. I’m very food motivated, which makes training easier (and me heavier!). Because I am food-focused, I should be with a moderately active family to keep my weight in check!
Yates is being fostered in the Albany, OR area.
