Lincoln joined our family at the end of December. While he was unsure of his new surroundings, we couldn’t have been happier to welcome him home. In our short time with Lincoln we see his confidence blooming and glimmers of his true personality. His smile is becoming more frequent, not just when it’s time to walk.
Looking in Lincoln’s eyes we knew he had been through a lot, but they were full of hope, kindness, and love too. Our non-GBR golden gave him a warm welcome and they played nonstop for several days. We spent most of the first month convincing Lincoln he was home. When he had enough of our snuggles and attention, he would seek a spot by himself away from the chaos. Slowly we see Lincoln choosing to sit closer to us, seek out attention, and even initiate playing. Finally, Lincoln believes he is home!
If it was up to Lincoln he would walk, or preferably run, most of the day. He is extremely passionate about his walks and makes sure we get going bright and early. Lincoln has so much to say to fellow dogs, however his greeting can be overwhelming, so we are working on this. Hopefully his greeting will improve enough to come to a GBR event soon.
We love the adventure that Lincoln brings to the family and we are excited to see his personality and confidence continue to grow.
I am a 2 year old, beautiful red golden with an exuberance for life. Leashes, food, people coming home all make me so happy. I am feeling much better than when I arrived from China and I have gained 6 pounds! I could use a few pounds but I am eating well so shouldn’t take long. I love my foster brother and sister and like to play with any of them big or small.
I am starting to realize that my foster mom is behind me on walks, when she calls me and I look, I get a treat or a petting. I am learning wait, sit and that I have a name. I love to lay on soft beds and sleep through the night. Not sure about cats. I would love a home with a secure backyard and people home most of the time.
