Our last several Goldens have been rescued as seniors so we obviously have a soft spot for the older guys. 7 year old Vinnie came to us after being in 3 different homes over the past 6 months and we of course didn’t know what to expect.

But within 5 days he knew the house routine, had happily gone on a 300 mile road trip, and gleefully jumped in the Yakima River for an on leash swim. He loves his twice a day walks, and already knows the neighborhood coffee shop has dog cookies for good boys who wait nicely in line.

We realized about 10 days after picking him up that he ticked all the boxes we look for in a Golden–he’s older, sweet disposition, loves car rides and swimming, and he’s always up for a game of fetch.

Like all fosters he has a few odd habits, the biggest being his need to drag a giant Costco dog bed from room to room with him. We’re told he’s had the bed since his original owner. He tries to carry it upstairs at night even though it’s bigger than him!

Bottom line: every senior Golden we’ve adopted has been a star just waiting to shine.

We think Vinnie’s star will be back to full brightness soon.

Vinnie (#3491) is a handsome 7-year old, 65-pound Golden Retriever who was rehomed to a neighbor after his owner’s death.  Unfortunately, Vinnie did not get along well with the resident dog in his new home so was surrendered to Golden Bond Rescue.

All descriptions above are what we know about this dog when it was first released to GBR. Dogs are typically in foster care for three to four weeks. During that time, we will discover its true personality as witnessed by its particular foster family. The dog’s personality traits may change as it becomes accustom to its new foster home.
