All the way from Beijing, China, by way of her foster home, Missy arrived at her forever home in Gresham, joining her new family of a small dog and two cats who were eagerly waiting her arrival. Well, maybe not so much the cats.

Missy and Lilly (dog) quickly became best friends. They wrestled constantly during the day. Lilly slept on the corner of her masters’ bed and Missy had her very own bed right next to her new mom. The parents quickly discovered that all the other dog beds scattered throughout the home were way too small for Missy: Missy arrived at around 70 lbs. and her head usually wound up on the floor when sleeping. So it was off to the pet store to get the largest size available. She still hangs over the edge, but doesn’t seem to mind too much. Besides, that way she can keep her ear to the floor and pick up the slightest sound. Missy came with soft stool and her mom added sweet potato and probiotics to Missy’s diet to help clear things up. It worked!

While she was in China, Missy must have had some training. She was basically very well behaved upon arrival. However, she didn’t understand English and her new parents didn’t speak Chinese, so there was a communication disconnect at first. But with the help of a few frantic hand waving and lots of love, and her little sister to help translate, she is quickly learning English.

Missy is a great addition to the family. She is very gentle, sweet natured and shows respect for her two feline sisters even though she remains very interested in their movements. She loves her toys: We don’t think she ever had any toys of her own. After stating out as a Chinese “breeder”, She is now going to have a wonderful rest of her life.

Hi!  My name is Shari (#3083).  My foster mom tells me I’m “one sweet little girl.”  I’m potty-trained, love to play with dogs, especially puppies, probably because I was a mommy during most of my life in China.

I’m pretty self-sufficient and am happy to snooze the day away, but my favorite thing is to lay at your feet, get lots of attention and give kisses. I should warn you that I love to take your slippers and lay in my kennel with them, something my foster mom calls “pretty adorable.”

My back legs are a little weak, but I’m good on a leash and walks will help me gain strength.  I do enjoy a car ride to DQ for a doggie cone and I will lay down patiently in the back seat on the way.

I’m ready to find my forever home and be your best and most loving companion if you’ll make me part of your family.
