Junior was rescued from China in December 2020 and we can’t imagine our lives without him. He happily joined our pack of now three senior rescued goldens and fit in seamlessly. Junior is one big happy love bug and we are so thankful for him. He loves all people and likes to give humans kisses of appreciation. He always seems so happy about life, which amazes me, given his prior fate. He is a smarty pants and a quick learner; he already has learned sit, down, and stay as we continue to work on more advanced training. He was potty trained immediately and walks great on a leash.

We discovered he’s older than initially thought (we have a soft spot for seniors) and mostly blind in one eye, but that doesn’t slow him down. He is OBSESSED with fetching and tennis balls. He seems to find them wherever we go; he even found a tennis ball on a hike once! It’s apparent he hasn’t had much physical activity in the past because his muscles are very weak, but he loves walks, hikes, and swimming which are great to help him build up his strength, especially important as he ages.

We can tell he hasn’t been a house dog before, but he has understood what living “the good life” is like so quickly, you would never know. He loves car rides, chills with us at breweries, has the time of his life hiking, and we can’t wait to take him camping and backpacking this summer. Junior is our daily reminder to appreciate the little things in life.

We’re so thankful for Junior’s foster family,

for all of the work GBR does, and for giving us the

opportunity to give this sweet boy a forever home!
