I am Stewie (#3102). My foster family thinks I should receive a “most improved award” because after arriving from the long flight from China anxious and stressed, I have become a moderately mellow and very happy dog! They call me a “dream” leash walker because I hardly pull, and I trot along so nicely! My incredible journey has continued with trail hikes in the snow and mountains, walking in the forest parks where I take in all the new sights and smells, and regular neighborhood sidewalk strolls!
I arrived skinny from China; something about parasites! Now that I receive three yummy meals a day with snacks, my coat is becoming shiny and my muscles are developing! I love to be brushed!!
No more counter surfing for me – nope! I can sit and look really handsome instead!
I play super well with my golden foster brother who is the same age as me, and so far the cat seems okay! I have shown no possessiveness with appropriate toys or balls and even snacks! I am not the most independent dog yet, however my foster family says I only have upwards potential! At night I wake up and need to be soothed. So far I have learned to sit, off, hush, leave it, get busy (outside!), and fetch and drop the ball! I know, more obedience is in my future and I do love the attention and car rides!!
A great home for me would include lots of loving pats, praise, and comfort; outdoor walking exercise as a tired dog is a happy dog, and not a lot of disruption as some loud noises are startling to me (for example the doorbell or a huge truck noise) , but I am gaining confidence and maturity daily.
