Hi!  They call me Ulrich (#3188) or Richie.  I came here on a really noisy, scary machine, and was so very happy to put my paws on the ground again!  My English is not so good, so I am going to let my foster mom tell you all about me.

Ulrich has been with us since he flew in from China on April 14th.  The first three weeks he was afraid of different new things several times a day.  He is doing much better now.  He has very good house manners and is great on a leash.  He is also very good meeting other dogs and people.  He is a conundrum.  You just never know what will scare him.  He cannot be yelled at, ever.  He does best in a calm, quiet home.  However, we recently took him to an event where there were 100’s of people and dogs and he did very well.

He loves his toys and loves to carry them around.  He also loves his foster dad’s socks.  He just carries them, he does not chew them.   He is very loving and can be needy at times.  He rides well in the car, but he will generally not get out on his own.  He has to be assisted, as he is afraid to get out.  He is still learning English, but knows sit, stay and he waits for his meals.  He has learned to leave the cats alone and will do fine with dog savvy cats.

He will do best in a home where at least one person is home during the day.  He cannot be crated when left alone, nor does he need to be.  He would thrive with an active family who included them in all of their activities.  He is an active young dog and really needs another young dog to play with.  He really enjoys playing with our Megan Whitley.  He would love having a large yard to run around in.
