Hi. Hello. How are you? My GBR name is Robert Redford (#4244) but my foster family has opted to call me “Ford”. It was that, Bob, or Red.

All they really know about me is that I am 5-years old and was rescued in China and brought over to America at the end of May. Our plane landed in LA where we had a vet check before we got on the road. I had a small piece of my left lip removed in China but I won’t tell why and nobody else knows. I also had developed a hot spot on the journey and the vets shaved the spot on my hip. It has since dried up nicely without any medicine and the hair is growing back. After that, we were in the GBR van and on our way. It was a long journey but the ladies were really nice and the company of 16 total rescues made sure I didn’t get lonely. One of the stops they got me out and handed the thing that clips to my collar over to another set of hoomans. I wasn’t sure what was going on but I jumped right in the backseat of their truck and away we went.

When we got to a house they had a room all for me with my own food dishes, bed, treats, and everything. I don’t like to sleep on beds and they haven’t made me go in a crate so I just sleep on the cool floor. The toys seem cute but I haven’t been interested yet.

After a couple of days of visits from the hoomans and resting from the long journey, I got to start meeting the other animals at this place. The girl that looks like me was great. They even had a puppy like us and he was alright, just a lot of energy. The boy that looked like me was not my favorite though and we never really have become friends. We haven’t fought but there is growling and it’s a little tense. I think in my future forever home it would just be best if there wasn’t another boy or strong dominant dog.

They also have cats! One is kind of mean but I just look at it like it’s crazy and walk away. The other one is so nice and likes to cuddle with me. Oh and they have a duck in their garden but I don’t really pay it much attention. The rabbits are jumpy though so I’m mildly curious what they are about. I’ve been learning how to run for short distances when playing and I like to smell all of the smells. I haven’t chewed a single thing, well the treats and bones they give me obviously, but no shoes or furniture or anything like that. I only potty outside because we don’t have a potty inside like the hoomans do.

I’m just fine spending the day lying around. If you’re home to lay around too, that is great but I also don’t mind if you have things to do. As long as you come back. I don’t bark when people come visit. A lot of them just come and leave a box but don’t stick around anyway. I see the other dogs play in water and chase balls but I am happy just wandering around and taking in all there is to see.

They did take me on a couple of car rides to meet people. When they put the thing on my collar that helps them hold on to me, I didn’t see any reason to pull. I just went along to see where we were going. The people we saw poked me a couple times but they said I was healthy and that the pokes would help keep me that way. I didn’t mind the other dogs that were visiting too and I liked the hoomans there. The car sure is nice. I just lie down in the backseat. My hoomans pet me extra on the trips, I think they are nervous and it helps calm them, of course I don’t mind. I guess the place we visited called later and said when they tested my poo (ewww) I had something that I needed medicine for. I didn’t like it but I didn’t fight it. After almost 2 weeks they checked and said the yuck was all gone. I think they said it was guardy or ardia or…wait…Giardia. I’m all better though!

It has been a journey and I am having a good time. What I would really love though is to find my forever home. If that might be you, let’s chat!
