The beautiful boy in the pool is Merlin (#2954). He arrived from China (Shenyang) on May 13. Merlin had distemper as a puppy and was left with noticeable “ticks/twitches” which are due to the distemper getting into his nervous system. Stress makes this and his other symptoms (goopy eyes, drooling, crusty nose, missing teeth) worse, but as he is settling in at his foster home, he is doing much better (the trip from China was hard on him).
Merlin is an absolute sweetheart who is very loving, easygoing, good with other dogs, walks well on a leash, loves water, chasing balls, sniffing and exploring, and enjoying life. He will always have twitches and the effects from his distemper could just stay the same as they are now or they could get worse, shortening his life – only time will tell. But many tests were done and he is otherwise healthy except for some liver damage, which is now being treated.
Merlin is a bit of a special needs dog, so deserves a very special home!
