Homer McKague

2014-2019

We adopted Homer from Golden Bond in February, 2015. We had just lost our other Golden Bond golden, Duncan, after he died unexpectedly from cancer and we were more than happy and excited to welcome Homer.

From the beginning, Homer was a part of our family. He joined us on hikes, endless baseball games, trips, snowshoeing adventures, the beach, and in everyday life. He has always had a confidence and a zest for life. I took him to work with me when he was a puppy, and as such, he and I connected and have remained steadfast companions. He loved car rides and could be found accompanying me on endless errands.

Homer has always had a feisty temperament; he didn’t do anything he didn’t want to. I referred to him as assertive with good boundaries! He was always up for an adventure or to lie with us and watch Netflix or read.

He became sick 2 weeks ago and was never able to recover and very sadly, he passed away on 9/7/19 with his family by his side. We were told he had renal failure, exact cause unknown. We are devastated, he was taken much too early with many more adventures to be had.

We will miss his spirit, his companionship, his feisty temperament, and above else, his love and joy he brought to this family. We can’t imagine living without his presence.  Thank you Golden Bond for helping us find our way to Homer, our love.
