While we had already anticipated that our sweet Annie (GBR #2930)  was telling us it was time to let her go it still did not make it any easier.  She crossed the rainbow bridge on November 19, 2019 with the loving help of Veneta Animal Hospital.  She was calm, peaceful, and ready. I know in my heart it was the right thing to do for her but boy are our hearts grieving for her.

Annie came to us 2 ½ years ago as a rescue from Golden Bond Rescue in Portland who saw an ad on craigslist from her original owners wanting to rehome her.  She was 12 years old.  I have no idea what the circumstances were so I am just going to assume it was for a good reason because this girl had the most loving heart and I cannot imagine ever giving her up.  We fell in love with Annie even before we met her.  That face.  The kindness that was in those eyes won our hearts and we just knew she belonged with us.  Her hair was very short and with some great supplements and food it started growing in in small patches.  She was eventually diagnosed with Cushing’s and became incontinent…. oh, the joys of aging!  Once she started the meds her hair started growing like a wildfire…this beautiful red and golden hair with little shimmers of sparkles. The incontinence…well, we had several mops that got a lot of use and thankfully we don’t have carpet.

When you adopt a senior pet, you know the time with them is short.  Annie brought us so much joy and love in the way to short time she was with us.  As she started feeling better her personality really started to show.  She was playful, loved to chase a frisbee, not so great about letting you have it back, loved tennis balls, food, tolerated the cat who was in love with her, loved us and we just adored her.  One of the most amazing things she did was to go to the aid of our crazy Maggie whenever Maggie was having an episode/seizure.  There were times I wasn’t moving fast enough to get to her, and Annie would come running to me as if to say, “hurry up”. Sometimes she would stand over this whirling, snarling dog as if protecting her.  It was just so incredible.  She was just so incredible.  We feel so blessed to have been able to be her final destination.

RIP our sweet and beautiful Annie Bananie aka Boo-boo. We miss you so much.

Hi everybody! My name is Annie (#2930) and I’m about 12 years old.  I’ve been bounced around lately through no fault of mine, but I’m an easy going girl and it doesn’t bother me too much.  Foster mom says I have excellent manners,  I never bark, and I love tennis balls.  I do great with other dogs and I met some young kids yesterday and did great with them too.  I may not be 100% Golden, but I am where it counts.  I love people and attention and foster mom says I’m a velcro girl.  I had a small lump removed from my back that was suspicious, but the vet said it didn’t look like a bad thing and I’m fine.  I get my stitches out in two days and then I’m ready to find my forever family.  I really would like a family of my own for Christmas.

From Annie’s foster mom:  Annie is just a sweet little doll.  She is a very easy dog to live with and just wants attention, lots of it.  If you ignore her, she will gently put her front paws in your lap so you can reach her easier for pets.  It is unknown if Annie has been spayed and at her age it would be a difficult surgery to find out.

Annie was adopted on December 13, 2017
