Hi, my name is Marco (#3506) and I am truly special. Let’s start with my size: I am pretty small, about 40 pounds. I’m not 100% golden retriever but I certainly have the golden heart. I think my small stature comes from the “other” breed that makes me so cute – maybe border collie or maybe shelty. What else makes me special? I loved to be picked up, put in your lap and snuggled, especially belly and chest rubs. I don’t bark much but if someone comes to the door and knocks, I will bark until I know it’s someone who will pet me. I am a bit shy when I meet a new person but that goes away quickly once I’ve had a chance to sniff (or perhaps a treat).
I have attempted to counter-surf but I’m so short, I can’t reach anything. When I get excited, I get up on my rear legs and look just like a circus pup dancing. Right now, I look a little scruffy because before I came to GBR, my body was shaved. Based on the feathering on my chest, tail and head, I’m going to look like a mini-golden when my body hair grows back.
Do I get along with other dogs? You bet I do!!! I LOVE to body wrestle, mouth wrestle, and play chase. Playing is so important to me that it would be great to have a playful friend in my new forever home.
When I first came to my foster home, I had to sleep in a crate but now my foster parents let me choose where I want to sleep (I still sleep in the crate though). Just to make sure I don’t get into any trouble with the other dogs in the home, when no adults are around, I stay in my crate.
If you can give me lots of attention, you could by my forever home.
Note From Foster Home: If you want a small, cuddly, lively boy, then Marco is the boy for you. This video will give a better idea of what he’s like with other dogs. Video One… and Video Two…
