Hi, my name is Sawyer (formerly Levi) and I was rescued from South Korea in January of this year. My foster parents, Alan and Betsy, picked me up from Golden Bond Rescue and took me to their home in Bend, Oregon the day after I arrived in Portland. Everything, including the strange language they spoke, was so new to me that I didn’t even know where to start exploring/learning about my new home. When I got to their home in Bend I met their golden, “Jasper” who began the process of introducing me to the house, his toys, and the nearby park where we would go on walks together. Because I came here with heartworm I had to be kept fairly calm and quiet so as not to over-stress my heart; which was not an easy task given my natural playfulness and love of life.
Treatment for my heartworm took two and a half months to complete but I survived the antibiotics and heartworm shots like a champ and by the end of March was feeling like a normal, two year old golden! In the meantime Alan, Betsy, and their firefighter/ski patroller son Mitch had fallen in love with me deciding that this should be my forever home adopting me in April. Today, I spend my days playing tug-o-war and chasing my “big brother” Jasper in the park, going on hikes and backcountry ski outings with Alan, Betsy, and Mitch, and learning to swim in the Deschutes River. While I’m kind of a “goofball,” Alan, Betsy, and Mitch think I’m really smart and super-sweet. When I wake up in the morning I can’t wait for my next “adventure” and truly love living in such a “dog-friendly’ town like Bend!
Meet Levi (#2928). Levi flew in from South Korea on January 9. He’s a very good looking dog who is sweet and good with other dogs.
Levi needs to be neutered and he also needs to be treated for heartworm as he came heartworm positive. He won’t be healed and ready to meet his fortunate forever family for at least two months.
Levi was adopted on April 1, 2018
