Hi! My name is Inez (#2833). I am a 6-year-old female Golden who is height and weight proportionate. I am extremely sweet to everyone I meet, humans and canines included. I am fine with cats and children; having met both of these types of critters, I know that I can maintain my sweet, non-aggressive disposition around them.
My foster family calls me “Izzie.” I was rescued from a slaughterhouse in China after being used to breed several litters. I have excellent manners in the house and around people. (My foster mom believes that I may have spent my early years in a family environment though I choose not to talk about it.) I am very mellow but still like to play and will instigate playtime with other dogs after I get to know them. I’m not into fetching balls but I love camping and recently learned to swim.
When I first come to your home, I will follow you everywhere, moving from room to room with you. I am the classic “Velcro” Golden. Like most Goldens, I also respond well to food treats and verbal praise. A harsh tone upsets me because I am so eager to please, and I have memories of being treated poorly in the slaughterhouse.
Commands I am working on in English: sit, stay, come, down, beep-beep. I am also learning what it means when I am asked: treat?, walk? I know how to walk on a leash without pulling. I learned how to use the doggie door in record time (it’s all about the treats!) which really impressed my foster mom.
I would do well in a family with someone home a good bit of the day. I exhibit some separation anxiety by barking when left alone. This subsides when I get comfortable in my household and realize that you are indeed going to return.
My foster mom says that whoever adopts me “will have an especially sweet and loving companion.” Could it be you?
