Ethan #2749

Hi!  My name is Ethan (#2749).  I am a 2-year old mostly Golden from China.  (It’s possible there’s some Chow in my DNA thus the “mostly” part.)  I like to eat things, especially paper — it’s so yummy! I am strong, energetic and oh-so-happy to be out of China.  (Yikes!  What they do to dogs over there would make you sick at your stomach.)

Ethan standing on grassI would do best in a home with an experienced owner and where I am the only dog.  I really do like to play with other dogs but I find that they sometimes have trouble with boundaries so it’s best if when we play there  are no toys and no food around to create trouble.  (I’ve heard it said that I have “resource guarding issues.”  Between you and me, I see this as protecting my stuff, but whatever . . . we don’t all see things the same way.)   Golden Bond Rescue and my foster family helped me through assistance from a professional trainer, but I will need ongoing support in my forever home.  (Honestly, I think it’s the other dogs that need the help but I’m willing to listen when someone has a difference of opinion.)   It’s possible I will get over my “issues” with further training, though I’m not making any promises.

I LOVE people and am what my foster family refers to as a “Velcro” dog.  (I’m not sure what that means but I suspect it’s a very good thing.)  My biggest “problem”, if you want to call it that, is my puppy-like energy which makes me do stupid things like jump on people, counter surf, and get mouthy. I am super smart and learn fast so with if you’re patient and help to teach me, I’m sure I will figure out how to control my impulses over time.  I was treated badly in the past so positive reinforcement training is a must. No harsh methods please!

I see myself as an adorable, wonderful, sweet and friendly boy.  If possible, I’d prefer to be part of a family where someone could be home with me most of the time.  If that’s not possible, maybe you could take me with you wherever you go?  That works for me as well.  I just don’t like being alone for long periods.

Ethan on grass field looking upOh!  I almost forgot to share this exciting little tidbit about myself:  I am absolutely the BEST belcher EVER.  My belches could put Homer Simpson to shame.  So, if you are looking for a dog to compete in your annual family belch-off, look no further  — I AM your man.  Pretty cool.  Wouldn’t you agree?
