Duke in the snowDuke was adopted on February 11, 2017

My name is Duke (#2720) and I came all the way from China to be part of your furever family. Iʼm around 2 years old, I weigh about 56 pounds and, as you can see, Iʼm quite handsome. Iʼm a very happy little boy and love to run and play. My foster mom says Iʼve still got a bit of puppiness in me, but I didnʼt get the chance to be a puppy in China.

I donʼt dig or ruin things around the house. I really enjoy being outside playing in the grass; watching the squirrels; running everywhere. Iʼm getting very good on a leash and do LOVE to go for walks. I am friendly when I meet other dogs — unless they are bigger and aggressive, then I’m scared.  I really like smaller dogs and enjoy playing with them.

Duke lying downMy favorite thing of all is people. I will shadow you around the house, just to make sure Iʼm not missing any of the excitement. I want to be everywhere you are. I love to snuggle and lay on your lap. Everyone I meet gives me pats and sweet hellos so I really like to meet them on our walks. I love kids too. Iʼve been exposed to kids of all ages and love them all. I do get very excited when people come to the house, but I donʼt jump up on them.

I have good manners. I know sit, down, up, wait, shhh and, of course, NO. I always sit like a good boy and wait for the okay to get my food. And boy do I LOVE food. I was pretty skinny when I got to the US so Iʼm always excited when my foster mom feeds me.

Duke with Christmas treeIʼm over-all very healthy and fit. I have had problems with my left hind leg, itʼs a bit smaller than the other. After a surgery in November, Iʼm getting stronger all the time and youʼd barely be able to tell when I run and play.

Iʼm a bit nervous when Iʼm left alone for too long. Now that I know what itʼs like to be in a family, to be loved and cared for, I donʼt want to be without it. I would do best in a home where Iʼm not left by myself very much. Iʼd also like to have a buddy to play with like another dog or kids.

Iʼd love a chance to meet you and see if we can be a family together. I would bring lots of love with me to give to everyone.

Duke wearing hatFrom Dukeʼs foster mom: Duke is an exceptional young boy. Heʼs very smart and learns things very quickly. He, like most Goldens, loves to be loved. He gives the best hugs and smiles all the time. Heʼs loving life – now that itʼs a good one. Heʼs very easy to have around and is pure joy.
