Hi, my name is Cinder (#3482) but my foster family some times will call me Cindy for short. I am a 2 to 3 year old shiny black Labrador who arrived in the US from China on 3/26. I was found roaming the streets of China, taken in and had surgery to remove polyps from my throat.  I recovered from that surgery but when I get over excited or if you were to pull on my collar, I put out a raspy grasping sound. The best way to walk me on a leash is with a front clip harness or a nose haulty. No clipping the leash on my collar, please.

I’m what you would expect from a young energetic lab – loving, pushy and looking for direction. I love to follow my foster mom around the house and sit by her feet when she’s working on her computer. There are several other dogs in my foster family and I get along with most of them. There are two (one is a terrier) who have picked on me and I don’t like being around them. I would love to be in a family with another dog for company just as long as the other dog doesn’t push me around. I don’t have a problem sharing my toys; however, if I’m playing with a toy, I don’t appreciate another dog taking it from me.

I love sleeping and eating in my special crate and when my foster family leave the house, I stay in my crate. I will whimper for a few minutes, but with a stuffed kong or a chew bone, I get down to business and forget they left me behind.

I do like to go for rides in the car but I do get a little nervous so it’s best I am wearing a seat belt or in a travel crate. If not, I may try to get into the front seat with you! Over time, I know I’ll get more comfortable riding in the car.

If I were make a wish for the perfect forever family, it would one that would give me lots of exercise (dog parks would be fine as would hiking and jogging), lots of love, and another friendly dog as a companion. I just love being with people so much, I would prefer a family who works from home or are not gone for long, long hours.

If you want a shiny, friendly, goofy lab boy, I’m the one!
