It all started that afternoon at Mud Bay months ago when we walked into a sea of cuteness with very sweet pups all jostling and bobbing around when this smaller fluffy guy came over quietly, sat on my feet and looked up at me and said “You are mine” with his eyes. Since then my husband, Tim, and I have fallen head over heels and paws with our Golden Nugget (previously Carlos).

Nug Bug, Nugilicious, Nuggy, Snuggle Nug- we could go on…has been the most incredible camping buddy, beach comber, office pal, cuddle monkey, silly so & so and all around tender spirit. He hasn’t met a human or a fellow canine friend that he hasn’t charmed. He is confident without being aggressive or dominant. He is sensitive without being skittish or spooking easily. We can only imagine what this survivor went through (we understand he was rescued from the food trade in China-but don’t know much more) but his resiliency and zest for life is infectious and inspiring.carlos3

I can completely see him as a therapy dog. He has the temperament and intuition that is healing, joy-filled, and totally engaging. That may be something we look into in the coming years. For now we are enjoying time together with the other doggies in our life-Nugget’s cousins and sharing his gifts with our friends and family.

He has made our little family complete. There isn’t a day that goes by that we aren’t truly grateful. Thank you, Golden Bond and all of the wonderful donors, volunteers, and community partners that made our hearts so full with this new family member.goldsmith-family-portraitcarlos
