Hello. My name is Benjamin (#3303) but my friends just call me Benji. I came to the United States from China in January. I am a smaller-framed golden who could stand to gain a pound or two. I am very playful, love to take rides in a car, and to play ball. I enjoy being around other dogs even when they are somewhat annoyed with my energy. I need lots of love and have lots of love to give.
I have had little command training, but have many habits that make me “charming” according to my foster family. I am housebroken, crate-trained, never get on furniture, and seldom bark. I get quite excited when meeting another dog or person. I am learning to sit, halt, and stay and walk/heel while on a leash with a front-clip harness. I love running around the yard and taking long walks. I am anxious to please and am beginning to settle down.
While I am currently exhibiting some behaviors that can be attributed to anxiety (you’d understand if you knew about my life in China), my foster mom thinks that once I find a stable home with a canine companion who loves to play as much as I do, these symptoms will subside.
I have many little quirks that I hope you will think make me endearing. For example, in the morning, I love to be vigorously rubbed after coming out of my crate and in the evening, I love to cuddle up in my foster mom’s lap while she reads a book or watches television.
If your home is ready to give and receive lots of love, I think we’d get along great.
