Hi, my name is Lea (#3496) and I am a black lab – 100% pure. I’ve been told that I’m about 3.5 years old but I seem to have the energy of a pup. When I first arrived at Golden Bond Rescue, my doctor wasn’t totally convinced that I needed immediate hip surgery. After waiting a few weeks and watching me move and walk, GBR decided to have my worst hip (left) replaced. I went through 12-weeks of recovery and I’m now ready to play and act like a normal dog.
I can run, go on long walks/hikes, play and go up and down stairs just like other dogs; however, my doctor suggested I not have a forever family who wants me as a long distance jogging dog. Also it is recommended I have daily doses of salmon oil and joint supplements. You can see by these videos that I run and play really well. Don’t be turned off by my brown nose, I do like to dig into mole hills.
So about my personality. You know all those things you hear about labs – loving, fun, goofy, loves water, outgoing – well they’re all true. I’ve never met a person or dog that I didn’t like. I’ve never been to a dog park but if it’s anything like running around in my foster home’s pasture with lots of other dogs, then that’s the place for me. I walk pretty well on a leash but I will need some extra help from my forever home to perfect it, probably a front clip harness would be perfect for me. Oh, did I tell you I know the command “sit”?
I love, love, love car rides. I am so quiet in the car that there have been times my foster mom has forgotten I am there!
What would be the perfect home for me? I really would like someone who is ready to pay me a lot of attention. Take me on long walks or hikes, and occasionally have play dates with other dogs so I can wrestle. I am crate trained and that’s where I sleep at night, though I have, at times, slept outside the crate on a dog bed.
If you have lots of love for a shiny black lab, please ask about meeting me. I promise, you won’t be disappointed.
