Sunshine #439

439_sunshine_1In 2003, Mac and I attended the Golden Bond Summer picnic. At that picnic we met Sunshine #439, a beautiful, sweet 11 year old golden who was looking for her third home. Both of her prevision owners said the same thing about her…”a sweet old girl”. She was that and more. She loved walking in the neighborhood park daily, chasing tennis balls and squirrels. Arthritis set in and her chasing days were over and when she turned 16 her hearing was gone but she learned hand signs and still nothing stopped her. We retired 11 months ago and she went on the road with us in an RV. She learned to climb a ramp up to the 5th wheel and into the truck. As I say nothing stopped her from being with her people. At the age of 18 years and 11 months (we have documentation) she was diagnosed with lymphoma and she died 6 weeks later. We still step high over the places she used to lay and wonder where she is if we have any food left after dinner. It has taken me many weeks to be able to tell Golden Bond Rescue about our loss. The pain is ebbing and we are once more looking at a Golden here in our new home in Austin, Tx. This one is 12!
Thank you, Golden Bond for giving us the greatest dog in the world for 7.5 years. Sunshine was the best!
