We are sorry to report that Hester has gone to the Rainbow Bridge. We thank Carla for her love and affection in caring for this sweet senior. December 2002
Hester is one of several dogs Golden Bond has in permanent foster care. Permanent Foster Care is used when dogs are deemed too old or too medically fragile to be adopted when released to Golden Bond. It takes a very unique foster family to be able to provide the care that these special dogs need. Permanent Foster Care has allowed many dogs to live out their last days with love and dignity.
Hester
Hester is a senior citizen in the dog world, she's approximately 12-14 years old. She was a stray and through no fault of her own, ended up in the shelter. She has a heart of gold and loves everyone. She has some health issues with her heart and spine and is taking meds for both along with following a "heart healthy" diet, with a few snacks here and there.
She is unable to take walks and occassionally stumbles but gets right
back up, but she loves to go in the car and has to be lifted in, she
likes to think she has helped out too. Once in the car she is so excited
that if you're not careful she will fall right out! She knows that she
will get treats at the bank and coffee places even if she doesn't make a
purchase or deposit.

She loves her squeaky toys and usualy takes one to bed with her, she
loves her doggie companions and kitty's and especially her foster mom.
She loves for you to sing to her and will try to join in (or perhaps she
is begging you to stop). She has the bladder of an oldster and she as a
special setup just for her since her foster mom is gone 10 hrs to work
and won't leave her outside.

She is a special girl that with her smile, tail wags and the gleam in her eyes that she is always saying how grateful she is for the loving home and security. She will wake her foster mom with her head on the edge of the bed and the tail thumping the wall to tell you it's time to get up and let her out. She is what they mean when they say "Old Gold is the Best"!
