Success Story: Rosie (#1661)

Update May 8, 2008

Happy Mothers Day, Golden Bond Moms!

As I dictate this letter to my mom, I am so happy that I am one of those special Gold Bond "Goldens" that have found a home with people and furry bodies that love me. Granted there are some of the furry faces that may have moments of doubt when I get too curious... but all in all, I have such a great life! I am sure that there are many of the golden adoptees that feel the same way as I do. I know the world is a better place with Golden Bond mom's and I a shining example of this truth. I came from a situation that might not have been the best and I had a lot of "issues". I struggled to feel secure in my new home, I had to learn my place in my doggy pack and finally learning manners so I can be a part of the family. I still feel like I need to learn a lot yet but I am so secure in the love my mom has for me that I can do anything. Love is so amazing and healing.

I play so hard sometimes I can barely get up on the couch for a snooze, but it is so bliss-ful to be that tired.

I also have developed a way to keep my spot on the couch and still be able to grab my various stuffies and toys — pivot, pivot, pivot, a technique I have mastered all by myself! Think I should patent it?

Thanks again for the donation of love, time and money all the Golden Bond Moms give to the Golden Bond mission to serve Golden Retrievers. Golden Bond couldn't do without your support! Smoochies to all of you!!

Love, Rosie

Adopted December 11, 2007

My name is Rosie, I am dictating to my mommy, but it is one of the few times I can dictate so I am enjoying this. I was adopted to my permanent home on December 11, 2007. My mom and new family were so excited to bring me home they could hardly wait and called before the 24 hours was up just to arrange to come for me, can ya beat that!!!

When I first met my new barky-sister, Snickers, we started running and tackling each other within minutes so I knew things were looking good. I found a million new smells at my house with chickens

and bunnies and wow! do I love those smells (my mom thinks these smells are "uuky", go figure?) They are certainly interesting, but I am much more interested in chasing my barky-sister and getting lots of mud all over both of us. I have had more baths since I moved to my new home than I ever knew possible. I also find my two other furry four-legged purry-sisters odd. They smell good and yet, every time I go up to them they hiss and run, what is that about?! I know I don't smell bad, with all the baths I have been getting.

I get tons of love and pets from my extended family's short people and my other furry cousins and we run and jump all over each other's yard. I think I might be liking this new home too much because every time they

go I find that recently I am getting really scared. Mommy is really good at soothing me and we are working on my trust issues. Mommy says I am a quick learner and she praises me for the way I walk on the leash and when I sit, lay, stay quiet, potty training — so much to learn. I can't wait to go to school, it should be fun to work with mommy and learn what pleases her. My wish for all you adoptees and adopters is to have a blessed and fulfilling 2008. I know mine is on the upswing!
