I’m so excited to tell everyone about my “forever home” with my new mom and dad. Their other Golden Bond girl, Maggie, died of a brain tumor, and they had been crying for two weeks. They had her for over four years, and they were so heartbroken when she died. They told me they wanted another dog to heal the huge hole in their hearts, and I wanted a new home so that’s how we found each other!
My folks changed my name to Betsy (instead of Hailey). That’s because there are three grandkids and one is named Hailey. It’s too confusing for me and for her. I love it when they come to visit because they like to play wild games, and they always include me. We play keep-away, catch, hide and seek, and tug-of-war.
My foster family used to call me the Velcro dog because I “stuck” to them for love and affection. So now my mom and dad sometimes call me Betsy Velcro. I love to love everyone! I go for two or three walks every day and love meeting and talking to the neighbors.
I’m just a little girl, not yet 2 years old, so my mom and dad said I have a lot to learn. I’m really doing a good job too! My folks told me I’m the fifth golden retriever they’ve had. My mom also told me on the second day I was here that both she and Dad have house rules, and it’s no different for me. They told me no more lounging all over the furniture, running through the kitchen, and sleeping on the beds. I know the routine of the house and what’s expected, and I’m fitting right in. Mom and Dad tell everyone that they are head over heals, madly in love with me. Thanks, Golden Bond, for giving me a “forever home.” I’m so happy here!
