Greetings from the Compound. That’s what they call this place. My name is Brody and I’ve been here 6 weeks.
The first day was pretty nice. My new people gave me lots of attention and their yard is big and had a lot of new things to sniff.
I live to sniff.
The first time we went for a walk there was a black dog and another lady that went with us that made me a little nervous. We all walked up a lane into the woods and they took me off my leash. That made me more nervous. I’ve heard about Hansel and Gretel and I said to myself “Nice try people, but I’m not falling for that trick.” I turned around and ran back to the yard.

The next day they all went off in their cars – even the little girl that I thought was going to be my best friend. As I watched them drive away I saw the black dog and the other lady. She called to me so I thought “What the heck, strange people are better than no people.” The black dog (named Billie I found out) showed me around the yard, the best sniffing locations, etc... There were lots of old bones in the grass so I had enough to do until my new people came home.
They gave me lots of love and scratched my chin. Then Billie and the other lady (her name is Grandma) came and we all started up the lane again. I wasn’t OK with this whole walking thing, but darn there were so many good smells! Puddles to splash through! A creek to drink from! My inner fears, however, sent me flying back to the yard again. Billie told me later that they walk up that lane every day and I should just relax and enjoy it. Which I did, and now I wander back with my new family instead of sprinting back to the porch.
Everyone here is very nice. They let me sleep next to their couch on a big blanket. They feed me twice a day. I can come in, go out to the yard or stay out under their covered porch when ever I want. When they all leave for work, I wander down to see Billie and Grandma. Sometimes I scare the pants off their cats – I’m not sure why, but like I said…..
I live to sniff.
I hope all of you find a good home like I did. Love, Brody.
I love all the hugs and kisses I get and that brushing stuff is really great. I am really happy in my new home and know I am part of this great family. Mom, Dad and I thank Golden Bond for uniting us and appreciate all the wonderful people that care so much for us.
