Dear Golden Bond Rescue,
Hi, this is Betsy (#1518), now Chelsea, writing to let you know that you
were so right when you told me that becoming a Golden Bond dog would be
the first day of the rest of my life. I have truly found my forever
home. I hardly know where to begin to tell everyone my story. I was
found as a stray, caked with mud, following a runner who had no place to
bring me but to the shelter. I am such a shy girl that I did not do
well there and was very anxious and apprehensive. I needed to find
another place to be so Golden Bond was called. It was recommended I be
picked up immediately and taken in, which I was and went to the vet for
spaying and then on to my foster home.
In foster care I healed and became a little more outgoing rather than crawling around on my belly. I was on the website just a short time when a family thought I would be just the dog for them. They were told how much love, attention and time I would need to become comfortable in a new home but they didn't even hesitate. They drove up to see me and we all knew from the instant they came in the door and sat down on the floor with me that they were my forever family to be.
I went home with Stephen, Debra and daughter Sarah, happily jumping in the car. However it was once again very scary and I reverted to my shy self. However this time I knew this was where I would be staying so I was able to go from needing petting 45 minutes at a time with each of my people to now lying on my bed and telling my family how happy I am by just wagging my tail. I'm still not able to go down the basement stairs, too scary, but have conquered the dark hallway to the bedrooms. I can even sit and listen to Sarah play her flute and violin and not have to run from the room. Now it is music to my ears. My next accomplishment needs to be going to the basement so I can sleep in the bedroom next to Sarah.
My wonderful family knew to just take me home and let me get to know them before taking me other places. Now I can happily go on long walks, go to the park, and even the dog store. Friends bring me toys and balls but all I really want is my new family. Perhaps later after taking in all their love I can move to the next level of toys but for now just give me this great new family that has opened their hearts and home to me. I truly never thought I would live such a wonderful life. Thanks Golden Bond, you are the best! Love, Chelsea
