Hi my name is Riley and I used to be a city dweller - I was a real couch potato. I had great foster parents, but then John and Shelley adopted me and moved me to the country. They have a 5 acre place with trees, birds, cats, horses, a creek, did I mention a CREEK! I discovered I love the water. When I got here I just couldn't stop sniffing the ground. My best friend is a white Lab named Jesse. He is 10 and I am 3 but he can really keep up with me. We get along great. Shelley or John take us for a long walk every day, then it's chores outside, then we get to go to the creek.
I love swimming in that creek. I'm getting so much exercise that I have to take naps when mom takes her nap.
I think mom loves hugging me because she missed her other golden retriever so much. He went to doggie heaven at age 13 , just a couple days before Mother's Day last year. In the late afternoon we're all in the family room - the cats too, and I am just as much a part of the family as if I were always here. This is home!
Hi this is Riley's mom. Well, Riley has adjusted so well it's been amazing. We did change his name however, to Jackson (as in Jackson Hole, Wyoming). He just fits in with our family so well it's like a piece of the puzzle is back in place. He's a darling and I am so glad we made that long drive (any drive longer than 40 minutes is long for me) to get him. It's all been worth it. And he seems so happy running, swimming, fetching sticks, and playing with Jesse, not to mention getting hugs from us. We're really thankful for an organization like Golden Bond who could make it happen. Many thanks to all you volunteers!
