Attached is a photo my husband, Paul took of "Heidi" whose name we changed from Trudy (#1389), Twi (our Tibetan Spaniel) and me. As Heidi was rescued from a shelter, no one knew her real name. She turned in our direction when we tried out "Heidi", and the name stuck. We feel so lucky to have Heidi join our family. She goes everywhere with us and has fit in almost as if she's always been here.
Diana, the wonderful Golden Bond volunteer who fostered Heidi, predicted Heidi would be a good match for Paul and I, and for Twi, and she was exactly right! Diana showed us how to introduce the dogs without creating territory issues, and everything went swimmingly. Heidi's loving, smart, somewhat independent, and great with kids. She not only likes Twi, she is even protective of him when other dogs are around on our walks.
Heidi lives in Seattle, and makes frequent trips to Lopez Island, where she has discovered all kinds of new scents, like the deer that pass through the yard in the night.
Heidi is a little bit of a mutt, being a small part of something other than Golden. A friend who adopted from Golden Bond many years ago told me that her dog looked just like Heidi and was a small part of a breed called "Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever". We looked the breed up on the Internet, and she does have that breed's coat color, and shorter stockier build. So, that's what we've decided that small part is, and whether we're right or not doesn't matter... and we'll never know... but it makes for a good story and the breed is so fun to explain.
Heidi has her favorite side of the bed, her favorite spot in the family room, her favorite seat in the car, but hasn't picked a favorite person. She loves everyone and everyone loves her.
Thank you, Golden Bond, and especially Diana, for all you do and all the love you share!
