Success Story: Reggie (#1385)

Adopted June 29, 2006

Reggie

Reggie (#1385) found his forever home in Aloha with Donna, Margaret and Bethany, a grandmother, mother and daughter living together. He is in doggy heaven and loving every minute as right now he is the center of their universe. Donna is a concert organist, Bethany is a teacher and Margaret is a stay-at-home grandma who will spend a lot of time with Reggie.

Reggie is going to be a companion/buddy/play pal to another Golden Bond Special Circumstances dog, Gracie. Donna found out about Reggie through Gracie's owner and immediately fell in love with him. She has been there through his surgery, etc. Donna loves the idea of Golden Bond and all they have done for her Reggie that she has offered to do a benefit silent movie concert with all proceeds going to Golden Bond. She will be performing Phantom of the Opera with the movie showing. Reggie got his forever home 1 week after turning 1 year old. He has his own yard and toys. He had several of Donna's students anticipating his arrival at her home so they could love on him as well.

Reggie, your foster mom loves and misses you already. Fortunately, you will not be that far away and I still get to see you. Next time we meet I will be auntie. I can't wait to see you running through the fields with Gracie. Golden Bond is grateful that we could help both of you be able to do that through hip surgeries. Enjoy life.

Update: May 4, 2006

Reggie (#1385) came into Golden Bond Rescue on March 7, 2006. He was an owner release due to the fact that he had hip dysplasia and the owners couldn't afford the surgery. Reggie visited Dr. Munjar and it was determined that he needed a right hip replacement. Other than the hip, Reggie was and continues to be in excellent health. He was only 9 months old at the time of the evaluation.

Reggie is being fostered by Erin and Ross Maunu who take care of most of our surgery dogs so they are real pros by this time. He has been leading the good life with the Maunus, however Erin is concerned that he will really be missing the cuddles in bed as he will be restricted to his dog pen and acepromazine for quite a while.

Reggie's surgery was May 2nd coming home on the May 3rd. His first birthday is June 17, of this year and by this time he will be well on his way to his new life with a new hip and quite possibly be in his forever home to celebrate it. Good luck, Reggie, you have all the Golden Bond people pulling for you.

Reggie (#1385) is doing great. He had his 2-week checkup on Wednesday and had stitches removed. He is being a model patient. I am so very proud of him. He really wants to be out of the cage, but he is at a critical stage in his recovery. We want the prosthesis to completely integrate with the bone so he will have a full, somewhat normal life. He is definitely feeling better. He gets really excited when he is out of his cage to have a potty break.

Keep up the good thoughts for Reggie. He is a winner.
