Success Story: Riley (#1350)

Adopted June 7th, 2007

Ha-Ha! I fooled them! They thought they would just be foster parents to a cute 7 month old for a month or so!  Little did they know that once they got a look at my adorable face and big sad eyes that they couldn’t resist adopting me thus making me a “foster fail” (by the way, that phrase doesn’t work for me, can’t we change that to something else like “foster succeed” or “foster triumph”?)

It was a sunny day in February when Patsy Nolte (she is one cool lady!) handed me over to my new mom, Monika, and we began our trek to my foster home. Once we got to this huge place with a fenced in area, which is much bigger than the apartment I was in before coming to GBR and has its own

potty area, I was introduced to Montana (hubba hubba!) with the assistance of our doggy nanny.  At first I showed a little fear aggression with Montana, but by the end of the night we were so tired from wrestling that we fell asleep next to each other on her dog bed.  We love to play, go to the beach, chew on everything in the yard that we can find and I personally like teasing the cats even though they can spit and hiss pretty good.

Well, despite mom telling me they were going to find me my “forever home” every night, my health wasn’t going to allow me to move on from this crazy house too soon so I had time to work them pretty good with my charm.   I had to visit two different doctors – one for the normal boy puppy surgery and the other for my hips. I really liked Dr. Munjar and his staff who took care of my hips—they all showered me with lots of pets and told me I was the cutest Golden they had seen! I then went to stay someplace else as mom was new to doggy surgeries. Erin, Ross and Devyn were awesome!  I really didn’t get to know the furry friends there as I was sleepy all the time but I was really well cared for and given lots of love too! Finally, after a few months, my foster mom came and got me and told me that I was staying with her, my foster dad, Montana and the cats permanently!

So, there you have it! That’s how I came to being adopted into my forever family. It did take a few months (a little over 4 months overall), but how could they resist? I am good in the car, play well with Montana, kennel trained and so well behaved that I can go into work with mom. We are now officially the “RedPawzHaven” as all of us have red or strawberry blonde hair, oh except dad, but I cannot comment on that! Good Luck to all of you other dogs—you will find your forever home soon.  If you need my help, let me know!

PS:Mom says I have to send a big sloppy “Thank You” kiss to Patsy Nolte, Murrayhill Veterinary, The Veterinary Referral Center, The Manu family and all of you who contribute to GBR because without you guys, I wouldn’t be here and I couldn’t imagine being any other place—so “SSSSLLLLRRRRRPPPP!”
