I get to sleep in their bedroom but am ready for action at 6:30 am. I don't need an alarm. I pull pretty hard on a regular leash so my parents use a prong training collar. I don't mind as it doesn't hurt. They bought me a rag toy and I get to play tug-o-war, my favorite thing. I'm pretty strong and usually win. I still itch a bit and this guy called a vet they took me to put me on venison and potato food. It tastes fine.
I went to Seattle for Christmas and there were three other big dogs there. It was fun to roughhouse with them but it got pretty wild at times. I knocked over a lamp but it didn't break. They gave each of us a big rawhide bone and this quieted us down a lot. Please wish my foster mom a Happy New Year for me.

Finally the good folks at Golden Bond took me in, after my owner said she wasn't interested in me any more. My experiences had been so limited that I didn't know how to act at first, but I'm gradually learning what fun it is to be a DOG! At my foster mom's house ( I get to live in a house!) I have the company of the two resident goldens, a cat and a foster mom who is helping me discover how great life can be. I have lots of soft toys to play with though I'm still not sure what a tennis ball is for. When I came to Golden Bond, I was chewing myself up and had infected ears and lots of sores on my skin. The vet said it could be allergies or stress ( I know all about stress!). After some medication, my sore spots have disappeared and I'm not so itchy. The duck and potato diet helps, too. I had been too thin but I'm gaining weight now. House training has been a big achievement! I go to a dog day care during the week for additional socialization, and have made lots of friends there. I have also learned a few tricks, like walking on a leash and coming when I'm called. And so far so good on the house training! I am smart as a whip and eager to learn more all the time!

Foster mom's note: When I first took in Freddy, I noticed that he didn't have that sweet Golden smile or wag his tail. Let's face it he had nothing to smile or wag his tail about. These three weeks have seen such a difference lots of smiles and tail wags now. MUCH credit is due to Darlene and the great folks at Many Paws. He loves to go there and enjoys every day. I've seen such a change in this wonderful dog.
