Golden Bond Rescue of Oregon, Inc. Memorial: Jack (#1242)Jack Crossed the Rainbow Bridge on January 8, 2008
We picked him up from his foster Mom, Sherry, the day after the picnic and were amazed how quickly he jumped right into our lives (literally he jumped over the back seat and into the lap of our then 17 year old son, Michael they were buddies from the start). Jack rode the whole way home (a two hour trip to Olympia) on Michael's lap. He went everywhere with us and of course brought his tennis ball. He was a great catch and loved to have it in his mouth so he could howl when someone came home. People were amazed by him and his ability to get around, he could do everything a four-legged dog could do. He loved playing ball and when he wanted a hug he would come over and share the chair with you until you got the message. We miss Jack terribly as he touched our lives and will always live in our hearts. We love you Jack! Thank you Golden Bond for giving us the opportunity to have a wonderful dog like Jack. David, Susan and Michael
Adopted August 31, 2005
Jack has adjusted very well to our family and us to him. He slept the night through by the bed as if he had been there forever. As long as he has his tennis ball close by all seems right in his world. When we first picked him up he used the 2+ hour trip to Olympia to get to know us up close rather then lay quietly. He was excited and happy about getting close to us and at times I imagine it looked as if he was driving with all the bounding around. He howls like a wolf when Michael comes home because he is so happy to see him. We have had Goldens before and one can never replace the other, they each bring their own light into the family and we are thrilled to have Jack with us.
Jack's "Available" Story
I am told that I have a disability since I have three legs. Huh? I need no medication and have no special needs in my daily life. And, I always thought those other dogs looked kind of odd with four legs, anyway. I am 6 years old and I have been this way from birth, so I don't see what the big deal is. I do a lot more than most dogs I see lying around. I LOVE tennis balls, and there is no way I will let one hit the ground if you throw it. I will bring it back to you in a jiffy. If you throw two I will try and bring back both at once. Sometimes my foster humans don't throw the ball back as quick as they should, so I help them by placing the ball closer to them to make it easier on them (I am very helpful that way). If that does not help enough, I can always place it in their lap, and they seem to get a kick out of that. Every once in awhile I try to remind my foster humans that I like to have hugs by walking up to them while they are on the couch, and giving them a little kiss on the ear. Then I put my head on their chest and they get the idea. It wouldn't kill them to hug me first, don't you think?
I'd sure be interested in meeting you. Even though I love it here, I would love to have my own forever home. Yours Forever,
